DURAN® Separating Funnel, with Glass Key, 100 mL

conical shape
  • Manufactured from 3.3 expansion borosilicate glass
  • Complies with DIN ISO 4800 Type 1
  • The conical shape makes it highly suited for phase separation
  • With solid glass stopcock key and plastic retaining device
  • Fired-on, highly durable white print
  • Tight neck closure due to standard ground joint with plastic stopper
Product Overview
A separating funnel has the shape of an inverted pointed flask with a stopcock to drain the contents at its tip. In liquid-liquid extractions, the two immiscible liquids separate into different layers where the liquid with the higher density collects in the lower part of the vessel and can be drained off via the stopcock. Separating funnels are used in liquid-liquid extractions to separate the components of a mixture into two immiscible solvent phases of different densities.
